As soon as his hand touched the parchment, the little shadow that delivered it vanished from sight. Disappearing into the air. The letter started off very formal; figuring it was a rather unimportant letter, he reclined in his study chair to read it. Though as his eyes scanned over the page...his eyes grew wider. Wider until he got to the last sentence before the dismissal. The world crashed, and everything got silent around him. Everything seemed to pause in that moment. 'There's...' In an instant, he was to his feet and already out the door before one of the servants could ask what the problem was, and why he was leaving so suddenly.
.. Running. Huffing heavily. His legs screamed in protest, as he had been running for what seemed like ages now. His castle had always been surrounded by a woods. It was the only place he could think of. Stopping by a tree, he leaned against it to try and catch his breath. His breaths were coming out in almost hiccups, but he had to keep going. His mind played back the note, then..it seemed to drift. To get hazy. Memories. Memories of her smiling face. Her teasing tone. How she would wrap her tail around his arm. The time they had both put love spells on each other, just to see who would crack first. Laying together, her head on his stomach while his fingers had just idly turned her hair between his digits. ...The butterflies that soon formed when she would visit him... "LYDS!" He was running again, crying out her name as his eyes stung with tears. Blinding him. But he had to keep going. "...Ace..." His feet stopped him almost immediately while his eyes searched through the darkness. There, in an almost grassy patch of the woods. She was...it was surreal, to see her this way. He had gotten accustomed to seeing her hair up, though at this moment...it was practically torn from its bun and fanned out through the grass. Her tail was wrapped defensively around her forearm, which on closer expection, had a blooming bruise over..a bite mark.. Her other arm was littered in bruises as well, though they seemed to surround claw marks that bled freely into the grass. Rushing over, he dropped to his knees in front of her. The tears in his eyes only had more reason to fall now with his arms lifting her up to get a better look on her condition. She had always said, that the little grey dots that were on her face were rather sensitive. It only seemed to solidify the fact as there were two thin slits along them. He propped her up on his legs. He couldn't move her now, he had to make sure she was stable. "Lyds...Lyds talk to me..please.." "Don't leave me...please..."
I just want to take a moment and say...if you really look at this..This is a major turning point in their relationship. Transitioning from goofy friends, to having secret affections towards each other, to..well...in a sense you just got a look at how Ace feels towards Lyds.
I won't lie, this answer took me forever. I didn't know what to do with it at first. If I should do a comic of it, or just a single panel. But...it needed a comic answer. It wouldn't have been completely fulfilled without it..
I also won't lie..yeah..I did cry. Gosh darn you Eli. 300th Deviation. Woop woop~
OMG! The feels, the feels! Just like the rest of your works, this is a really good job. Even if I feel like I could cry a river now. The colors, the shadows, their expresions, and also the way you hightlight some parts and repeated a fragment of the question. Pluss lets not forget the drabble written in the artist comment. I couldn't help but visualice the whole scene where Ace read the card and went to her rescue. Thus, the reason why I feel like I could make a new river with all these feels now. Great work!
Oh goddness I'm so happy I checked this in my room..... This made me cry.... I now understand what you meant when you said you needed help answering this.... I'm actually still crying. Your art is just amazing I love everything about it.... You my dear are increadible, I just don't know what else to say))
Thank you so much..I didn't really think that it would make anyone else cry than just me! I'm a rather emotional butt about these kinds of things anyways, so I didn't think anyone would get much of an impact from it! I'm so glad you like it..it was definitely a challenge to draw up. <3 But it was well worth it.
same with skyrim.
The feels! I teared up a bit!))
